Teaching at PAAJ

Role Overview

PAAJ teachers are educators first. We value instructors who are actively engaged in the classroom, committed to student growth, and invested in contributing to a positive, professional faculty culture.

This role is genre-agnostic and may include teaching group classes, private lessons (where applicable), rehearsals, and/or performance-based programming depending on experience and availability.

Core Responsibilities

All teachers at PAAJ are expected to:

  • Actively instruct, model, and correct students during class

  • Teach age- and level-appropriate technique and fundamentals, regardless of genre

  • Create a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment

  • Communicate confidence and professionalism to students and families

  • Maintain clear expectations around attendance, preparation, and behavior

  • Collaborate respectfully with fellow faculty and staff

  • Honor teaching and rehearsal commitments consistently

  • Support performances, showcases, or programs associated with assigned classes

Qualifications

We prioritize teachers who have made a meaningful commitment to their own training and professional development, such as:

  • Advanced certifications or ongoing professional education

  • College-level study in a performing arts discipline

  • Significant adult performance experience

  • Professional teaching experience beyond a single home studio

Strong communication, classroom management skills, and reliability are essential.
